๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey Movers,

The clearest sign of where local economies are heading isnโ€™t stock data or news coverage โ€” itโ€™s building permits.

They show where people are spending, hiring, and reinvesting before most others notice.
Over the past 90 days, permit data from multiple counties points to steady construction, upgrades, and infrastructure work across both large and mid-size markets.

We track - building permits, government projects, private equity, corporate moves and anything that signals a movement in money, people, jobs and industries. We turned on our tracking system in mid-August and now we are able to add a layer of insights with the data.

Montgomery County, Maryland

Montgomery Countyโ€™s permit filings have been consistent since August.
Most activity comes from infrastructure and electrical work โ€” new Comcast utility lines, EV charging stations, and retail upgrades such as the $350,000 renovation at Costco on Veirs Mill Road.
This reflects local reinvestment in basic systems and consumer spaces, not speculative development.

Insight: Stable county spending on infrastructure and retail updates signals confidence in long-term demand and population stability.

Los Angeles County, California

Los Angeles permit data shows continuous smaller-scale activity: utility trenching, ADU builds, and multifamily infill projects.
Contractors are still busy even as large developers hold back.
Work is concentrated in Venice, Beverly Grove, and North Hollywood โ€” neighborhoods with higher-density zoning and access to existing utilities.

Insight: The construction economy here is local and persistent, driven by independent builders adapting to demand.

Clark County (Henderson), Nevada

Hendersonโ€™s records show strong growth in residential solar and new dwelling permits.
The combination of rooftop installations, mechanical replacements, and small-scale housing builds points to long-term population inflows and homeowners investing in energy independence.

Insight: Housing demand in greater Las Vegas remains solid, with clear movement toward energy-efficient homes and smaller-lot development.

Norfolk, Virginia

Norfolkโ€™s permit activity centers on residential conversions and short-term rental approvals.
Itโ€™s a market using existing properties to generate additional income rather than expanding new inventory.

Insight: When financing tightens, adaptive reuse becomes the path to income. Norfolkโ€™s numbers show property owners adjusting in real time.

Mesa, Arizona

Mesa continues to issue a mix of commercial and residential permits, with consistent filings from general contractors like Alston Construction Co.
Projects are spreading east toward Apache Junction as developers look for cheaper land and faster approvals.

Insight: Mesa is tracking as an industrial and logistics extension of Phoenix โ€” steady, incremental, and long-range.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicagoโ€™s data remains heavy on environmental, masonry, and faรงade permits.
Much of the work is restoration, not expansion โ€” focused on maintaining older buildings and infrastructure.

Insight: Chicagoโ€™s economy shows strength through ongoing maintenance and repair work, a stable indicator of demand for trades and materials.

Austin, Texas

Austinโ€™s filings are dominated by HVAC, irrigation, and siding permits. Itโ€™s not new housing โ€” itโ€™s property maintenance and retrofitting. That shift shows a market moving from rapid expansion to sustained service demand.

Insight: Austinโ€™s growth wave has matured. The building cycle has transitioned into long-term property upkeep and systems replacement.

Summary

Across all seven counties, the pattern is consistent:
Local construction and infrastructure work continue even in tighter financial conditions.
Permits reflect movement in energy systems, housing adaptability, and basic upgrades โ€” the real backbone of the economy.

These arenโ€™t isolated projects. Theyโ€™re signals of where steady money and long-term demand still exist.
